Exodus 15 Q&A
1 How is the Song of Moses different from the world’s songs of victory?
It gives all the glory to God and not to man. Moses isn’t even mentioned.
2 How is our song similar to that of Moses’?
We were redeemed miraculously as well, and all the glory goes to God. We had nothing to do with it. God led us out of a hopeless situation by His mighty power.
3 Why is it necessary for God to be a warrior?
Because evil is violent and must be resisted. God is strongly opposed to evil and resists it. We are in a cosmic battle for the souls of men. Thank God He is a warrior or we’d be doomed. Jn 10:10
4 What attribute of God leads us through life?
Hesed - His merciful unfailing love.
5 What is the song we sing in heaven? Why?
The Song of Moses and the Lamb. We were redeemed and came through the waters of baptism. God defeated our enemy, Satan and his army. We need never fear again. What God did for them He did for us as the Lamb of God.
6 How long did their joy last?
Three days! The first test of thirst and they forgot that the Lord was their strength, their song and their salvation.
7 What was wrong with their complaint?
They blamed Moses, ultimately God, and maligned His character. In blaming Moses they blamed God. They looked to Moses for the solution and not to God.
8 How was the statute related to the test?
If they would listen to God and obey Him, then they would not be afflicted like the Egyptians and would know God as JHWH Rapha, the God who heals.
9 When does God become JHWH Rapha to us?
It is the same for us. If we will listen and obey then we do not need to the lessons of affliction. Tests will come our way, but we won’t need affliction to wake us up to our rebellion. Jesus became the healer of our soul when we received Him as Lord and Savior.
10 Which is better, hymns or choruses?
Both have their place as we see in the Song of Moses and Miriam’s chorus. One can be rich in theology while the other can express exuberant praise from the heart.
